Artist Statement
Art has been present throughout the entirety of my life thus far. As I am currently a senior and having to make decisions about my post-secondary life, I have found that I am leaning towards art as a career and study pathway. This year has also been monumental for me as an artist as I have challenged myself more and learned to be bolder in my artistic process and thinking.
Over the course of this past semester, I have been able to both explore and discover my style as an artist. I have noticed a style emerge in my photography that highlights humanity and emotion as tend to photograph people in a way that is raw, real, and reflective of them as a person. My hope is that my art can make people feel emotions. I want my art to be able to be interpreted by anyone and everyone, but I want the interpretation to be unique and have a different connotation for each person that sees my art.
As I continue with my artistic pursuits, I hope that I can turn art into my profession and study in college. I hope that I can continue learning and creating through experimentation and reflection. Above all, I hope that art forever remains a major part of my life, as I feel it is a part of me and also a part of every person.

Reflection
This portfolio is a summation of my work from the first semester of my senior year. I think that this portfolio is representative of my growth as an artist this year and it also provides a look into my hopes and goals for the future. Throughout completing this portfolio, I experimented more than I ever had before, which helped me to explore my artistic style and identify my strengths as an artist. I started the semester wanting to work in multiple mediums and completed my first project as a painting. I shifted to working in photography consistently after my first project and after realizing that my passion and strengths artistically reside mainly within my photography. This semester has also helped me determine my post-secondary plans and given me more confidence in following my passion for art in college and beyond.
