Black on White - Charcoal Still Life
This piece, 'Shadows in Charcoal,' is my black on white still life piece. The task for this piece was to draw the various styrofoam shapes that sat on a table using black charcoal on white paper. The key skills and knowledge in this project included use of charcoal, blending, and also evaluation of a light source. In my final product, I succeeded in drawing my view of the objects, but had challenges with blending the charcoal all the way. I had a difficult time blending the charcoal, but I tried to embrace the challenge and allow my piece to have a more streaky feel. In reflecting on this piece, I am proud of how I was able to shade the objects based on the light source, but I need to continue working on blending charcoal better. Overall I think that this piece turned out how I had intended it to, but it could definatley be better.
