Project 6
Objectives:
1. Incorporate the color red into the photographs.
2. Add noise using photography. Also attempt to cover someone's face with a cloud in photoshop.
2. Add noise using photography. Also attempt to cover someone's face with a cloud in photoshop.
Research:
I like how these photos have noise in them. I also like the idea of working with the brushes to create clouds over someone's face.
Raw Photos:
Edits:
To edit these images, I added noise to some, and not to others. For the cloud pictures, I used the brush tool to make the photos look like they had clouds in places that they didn't. For the pictures towards the end, I layered a second photo over the first. The second photo was only slightly different than the first, which altered the colors when I used the different blending techniques.
Final Print:

OBSERVE + DESCRIBE:
This is a photograph of a person (my sister) standing up. She is wearing a faded red shirt with thin white stripes. The sky and some mountains are behind her. There is a cloud over her face. This photograph also has noise.
ANALYZE:
In this photograph, there is a connection between the Element of Art 'Texture' and the Principle of Design 'Unity.' This connection can be seen with the noise in the photograph and also the red shirt. The texture of the noise gives the photograph a retro/vintage/old feel to it. The shirt also looks older and has a retro demeanor. The noise combined with the shirt create an overall old/retro look, which created unity in the photograph. Another connection can be made between the Element of Art 'Shape' and the Principle of Design 'Emphasis.' The shape of the cloud over the person's face interrupts the shape of the person. This creates emphasis because the viewer is drawn to the unexpected shape of the cloud where a face would usually be.
INTERPRET:
The idea for this photograph was to try to do more complex edits in photoshop, as well as create a photo with an old look to it. I think both of these objectives were met because editing the cloud over the person's face was successful, as was making the photo look older (with noise).
EVALUATE:
I think that this project is my favorite one that I have done thus far. I like how it is still photorealistic, but the edit makes it look less realistic. I also like that I used more editing tools on photoshop that I haven't used before, like the brush tool for the clouds and adding noise.
